Gravatar In middle GA we have had 3 days of rain. And I am coughing when I go outside. Do you give mold levels as well? Fortunately, our house was new when we moved in 4 years ago. I was diagnosed with asthma last Christmas at age 73! So I am VERY conscious of when 'that' cough starts! Thank you

Gravatar I live in San Antonio, TX and the Cedar and Juniper are killing me right now. I have not had asthma symptoms like this for years. I am doubling up on my inhaler and using an additional one. I am also taking Clariton and using Flonase. Does anyone have any other ideas? It is keeping me from sleeping and I can't go out. My husband keeps the filter on the AC/heater updated (yes, we use both at this time of year here).
Thanks,
Karen

Gravatar I don't understand why I have to put your URL down, because it is your page, but I guess this is what I'm supposed to do. What I would like for you to have on your page, is not only the # count like (9.2 Medium high for my area), but explain what the "9.2" means. Surely it doesn't mean that there are only 9.2 grains of pollen in a cubit ft of air, does it? That doesn't sound like much. Please explain so I can have a clearer view of what I am up against. Also thank you for the 4 day alert, just would like to understand it better.

Gravatar to Karen in San Antonio, I am in the Dallas area and having the same problem. I have found this silk mask to be helpful for sleeping. You can order it on-line from National Allergy. It's called the "I Can Breath" silk mask, and runs around $21. It really works, and has helped me get through the tough months.

Gravatar I live on the northern Calif. coast, where it has been unseasonably warm for the past two weeks. My allergies are killing me! They are the worst in years! The tree pollen must be heavier than usual, despite the frost every night. Anyone else having this problem?

Gravatar I have found that the best cure for my allergies is a good air purifier. I just got one about 2 months ago from this website www.cleanair4life.com, it's called a Blueair, and it's wonderful! I barely have any symptoms in the house anymore. Now if only they could create one for the outdoors.....:)

Gravatar Responding to Karen in San Antonio. I live around Ft. Worth and I'm having a terrible time with the tree pollens right now. My eyes and sinuses are horrible and my throat is sore. Trying to decide if I might have a cold too, but I don't really think so.

Gravatar I have a pollen/allergy question for anyone who can answer. I do not have typical allergies, only when severe conditions may exist, so with the high winds this past Thurs, 2/19, as well as the 50 mph winds two Thursdays ago on 2/5, I had the most severe headaches and facial sinus pain that I have ever experienced. Can anyone tell me what could have caused this?
Thanks - StephanieRS

Hi,

thank you for using Pollen.com. For a specific pollination seasons you can go to PollenLibrary.com our sister site for researching plant allergenicity. At PollenLibrary.com you can see a list of significant allergens pollinating in your county right now - list of currently pollinating severe allergens in Montgomery County, PA. This tool is very helpful for predicting when and where particular plants will pollinate and cause allergies.

# My Pollen Allergy
Gravatar I live in San Diego, CA and I am allergic to all the types of pollen. My friend has found this site so I can tell how much pollen is in the air that day. Even though I take medicines and stuff, still got some allergies! :) Like I take Nasonex which does work on the days the Pollen is not high but when it is high, I explode. Just wanted to say!

Gravatar To Karen: My cousin with asthma started using home nebulizer treatments morning and evening and has been able to cut way back on daily inhaler use for his asthma.

To pollen.com: I would also like to see mold counts added to your website. Thank you.

Gravatar Wow!! What a neat site to have out here for people like me who suffer from seasonal allergies, asthma, sinus infections and bronchitis from time to time. Living in mid-Michigan in the Valley doesn't always help. Am considering a move and this site is fantastic for information of this type. Thanks a million.

Gravatar Karen in San Antonio,

Go to CVS and get a sinus irragator. Its a little tea pot looking thing that you put in one nostril tilt your head and the salty water pours out the other nostril. A lot of mucus comes forth. The idea is that pollen is stuck in your nasal cavity so you need to get it out. Allergies are a combination of whats in there reaching a critical mass coupled with the new pollen you encounter. If you get out the critical mass that in your nose already maybe the pollen you meet with in the air might not be as torturous. Thats the idea. Ive tried it, and it definately works on some level. Its one more idea for relief.

Gravatar For everyone looking for a more detailed description of what Pollen.com Levels mean - it is located on the left side of the chart. The links are the actual level descriptions (High, Med-High, etc) - if clicked it brings out a window with Pollen.com Level Descriptions

Here's a direct link to it: http://www.pollen.com/PollenLevelsDescription.htm

Gravatar I'm visiting CA...I'm in the Del Mar area and I'm dying. My allergy meds and asthma controller usually work fine, but I've been having to use my rescue inhaler quite a bit. I don't know what it's usally like here, but I don't know if I want to come back...haha. The beach is so beautiful, though. This site has really helpful information and I'm glad I found it. Keep up the good work. My two cents.

Gravatar My sister from north Illinois is visiting me in central Oklahoma in March/April and we need to know which pollens she should get treated for before she comes down. Can you check and see which were the worst offender in that season in that area in the last 2 years?

Gravatar I searched in your pollen library for "mountain cedar" and it was not found. That is the MOST allergy-causing tree we have here in South Texas. Everyone is suffering from it right now. I've been using Sinusalia and Sabadil from Boiron, a homeopathic mix that helps without drying me out, alternating with Zyrtec and Sudaphed, which do dry me out. I also run a cool-mist humidifier at night, and put Menthalatum on my nostrils. (Someone told me the pollen sticks to it so it doesn't get in, but it also helps my sore nose from the blowing.) But nothing helps 100%.

Gravatar The "mountain cedar", or Ashe's Juniper (Juniperus Ashei), belongs to the Juniperus family. For more information on these trees check out pollenlibrary.com/botany_researchers_maps.php
